nashville counseling and consulting
Now more than ever, we are struggling to live engaged, enriched lives free from unmanageable stress that can manifest into full mental health diagnoses. Many of us are in a perpetual state of survival mode where thriving isn’t a thought—until its an afterthought.
Are you burned out from the unhealthy patterns that have crept into your routine? Or bummed out because you know your life could be better for any multitude of reasons? Or maybe you’ve experienced trauma and need to tend to your own story in order to heal and rebuild. I want to help you live better and feel better.
“I’ve been there. I understand how our roles and responsibilities can become overwhelming, and the hats we wear become burdens we bear. Trauma & anxiety can be debilitating, and the work toward recovery can be exhausting and sometimes daunting.”
—Candice Ashburn, LPC-MHSP (t), Therapist & Founder
Improved personal well-being deserves and requires forethought and supportive intention. That’s what you will get with Candice. She can help you bridge gaps between your values and lived experiences by facilitating increased emotional agility and self-awareness.
“I, myself, have experienced the healing results of 'doing the work' in a wholistic fashion.
It’s neither a quick nor easy fix. For some of us, we’ve survived for years (even decades) by using maladaptive coping mechanisms which generally served a protective purpose. However, that’s not how our brains nor bodies are meant to perpetually function, and—there’s goodness and peace and rest to be experienced. We’ve got to learn how to help our brains out of negative loops of survival, false senses of connection, disingenuous motivation and harmful maladaptation.
It’s possible, and I’d love to help you.”
Maybe you’re not sure what you need or where to start. That’s okay, too. We can figure it out. Fill out the form below, email or call. We can have a no-charge phone consultation and go from there.
I look forward to hearing from you.

Counseling
A narrative exists about our lives and sometimes we need to ask and attempt to answer questions in order to inform our current circumstances. It can be helpful to look back and unpack answers. And . . . we also need to look forward. If we spend too much time in either space, we can get stuck. We need to understand how we got where we are, and we need traction to move ahead in a direction of growth. Read more
Coaching
Where counseling involves looking back and inward inviting therapeutic implications, coaching is more solutions focussed and centered around specific goals. Sometimes that’s personal goals, or it can be professional—or both. Or maybe it’s somewhere in between where you’d like to assess and integrate the two in a more authentic, congruent manner.
Consulting
Everyone needs a little advice or help at one point or another including professionals. The core motivation of NCC when consulting is gaining strategic insight into your organization or business and assessing needs for change therein. What needs to change? How will change occur? Who is involved in the change process and how will all of these dynamics effect the other and work together? Let us guide you in a collaborative process to develop beneficial practices in order to bolster your work force and reinforce the mission of your organization. Read more
Special Education Advocacy
Special Education can be a challenging journey to navigate. Parents take on extraordinary and increased responsibilities of caregiving when assuming the role of helper to children with special learning needs in the educational setting. The system is complex as are the laws meant to protect the educational rights of students with disabilities. Some parents simply need emotional support and an extra set of eyes and ears in order to make and affirm decisions that affect their child’s education. Others need input on technical and legal implications for IEPs. Is my child’s IEP sufficient? Is it being executed with fidelity? Are my child’s goals being taught, assessed, measured and monitored appropriately in order that they will achieve their highest potential? Parenting within special education can be daunting, exhausting and isolating. We would love to walk with you and can help you assess what you and your child needs if you’re unsure.
